EDL580T: Organization. Development. for High Performance

Course Description

EDL 580T is an elective course in the educational leadership doctoral program..This course provides educational leaders with practical knowledge and application of professional practices to promote and support large system change, making organizations more effective and productive, and at the same time, rewarding and engaging places in which to work.

Students begin with an analysis of their own organization and use the information to identify opportunities, and facilitate shared decision-making using evidence-based strategies and methods to improve current actions and programs or initiate new ideas.

Previously, this course was taught in a traditional F2F setting. Although I have not taught this particular course before, I have taught several courses with similar outcomes and assignments and frequently share the content and strategies contained in this course with educational leaders throughout CA who are interested in creating and sustaining positive change.

5.2 Instructor helps students understand importance of course topics and content in support of course activities and any related practical experiences.

To build continuity, to create a sense of rhythm to the learning and to frontload expectations, each module begins with an overview page that includes a visual image, an introductory video, set of objectives, available resources section and
"To Do" list that lists assignments with due dates. When appropriate, tutorial hot links are provided to support and encourage use of online learning tools and response options, such as voiceThread and screencasting.

Description of QLT Course Design

The module overview video explains the why behind the what of facilitation and meeting management as a critical 21^st C. leadership set of skills and strategies, outlines major assignments and creates relevancy by describing practical learning experiences students will encounter in this section of the course. It is hoped that students will use the produced video as an example for communication of their own ideas when submitting assignments or in to transmit information in their real work.
