BUS 502 Quantitative Methods for Decision-Making
Fall 2019

Course Description

BUS 502 is a required course in the MBA Curriculum. I have taught this course for five years (three years online) at CSUCI. This course provides an overview of core quantitative skills for effective managerial decision-making. Topics include statistical principles, regression analysis, forecasting, multi-attribute decision-making, benefit-cost analysis, and spreadsheet modeling of businesses cases.

At the end of this course, students will be able to:

use data analysis to describe the demographics and patterns that exist in a market segment,
forecast future events and construct confidence ranges for these estimates,
determine the appropriate decision model app for a variety of situations,
formulate decision problems and generate the required inputs for the app,
interpret the output of decision model apps.

Description of QLT Course Design

I supply all course materials, except Excel, at no charge to the students. All materials are delivered electronically. These materials include a workbook, various handouts, problem sets, solutions, case studies and Excel apps. These materials are supplied well in advance of their usage in class.

3.5 There is a variety of instructional material types and perspectives, while not overly relying on one content type such as text.

Description of QLT Course Design

In my BUS 502 class I use a variety of materials. There is an electronic text that I supply the students plus lecture notes that are in Powerpoint. I also utilize videos for each topic and provide the students with Excel apps for the topics in the course.
